Job Description

The Gift Officer will work out of our Thornwood, NY office.

The Nature of the Position is to solicit gifts for the Annual Fund and build relationships with donors, primarily through phone calls and personalized email contact. Working in an organized fashion through telephone, email and personal contact , you will work with donors who wish to give on a regular basis and build a group of donors who respond to personalized cultivation. You will secure appointments and visit planned giving prospects for the purpose of encouraging planned gifts of all types. 50% to 75% of time will be spent in phone cultivation with 25% to 50% in travel,visiting with donors.

Job Requirements

5 or more years sales with excellent phone and interpersonal communication skills, marketing or relationship building experience.


Knowledge of estate planning and investments, with experience in charitable planned gifts preferred.
Familiarity in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel a must and preferred experience in Rasiers Edge 7 software.

Education: Baccalaureate degree, preferably in Marketing or related field.

OR: Equivalent combination of education and experience

Hours of work: Must be able and agree to work within flexible hours, such as designated peak calling times (5pm to 8pm) when calling from the home office of Thornwood.
