Were your "Depressed" in the Legion of Christ/Regnum Christi?

  The Legion/Regnum is all about appearances, all kinds of appearances, especially the appearance of being right, holy, whatever. The member is blamed for any problems, not the system. The superiors can never be wrong. So if you are depressed it is your fault! There is no searching for answers, causes or solutions. It is all very childish, I am sorry to say. So once you grow up and become "your own best friend*" you grow out of the Movement and leave. 
  Even depression is treated very superficially in the Movement. It would not be strange if in the Legion many people were depressed: because they are in an oppressive environment. So I would consider this "depression" -which I and others suffered from- to be a "situational" depression, and not an "endemic" or deep seated form. Unfortunately, serious abuse and exploitation can lead to a Major Depressive Episode and even to suicidal thoughts, and ultimately to a suicide attempt, successful or unsuccessful. 
  The responsibility has to be laid at the feet of the system and the upholders of the system. 
  It is a shame that the Roman Curia does not want to see that. 
  Archbishop O'Brien of Baltimore saw it many years ago. His critique may have led to the investigations. However, the ax was not laid to the roots as the Baptist and Jesus wanted.
  I highly recommend for anyone who has been infected by the LC.RC virus to read and meditate "How to be your own best friend" by the Berkovitz, a couple of old but very wise psychiatrists. 
  Ah, but you can only lead those books approved by your spiritual director or by psychiatrists approved by your director! [as they continue to control your thoughts!]
