My friend Mons Brian Farrell, one of Vatican Commissioners to Legion; Blazquez to Reform Consecrated RCs

My other friend, Jack Keogh, passed on the news that Brian, who joined the Legion the same day as myself, July 1st, 1961 -see the Our Father Maciel, who art in bed bestseller- has been named one of the 4 commissioners to reform the Legion. Another is Jesuit, and the other two canon lawyers familiar with the Legion.

bishop Blasquez of Valladolid, Spain, who did such a good job during the investigation, has been named to lead reform of the Regnum Christi Movement. [all their leaders speak Spanish, the Legion's official language -Maciel spoke only Spanish].

Farrell's appointment could be key. Nobody like insider Brian would know the Modus Operandi of the Legion.

It is this blogger's opinion that the Legion and Regnum will not be reformed by decrees but by reform of the Modus Operandi [PRAXIS] inherent and ingrained into Legionaries of Christ from the moment they are recruited. There is a obtuseness and ruthlessness about the leadership that will not go away with Chapter Generals -they've had them under Maciel to rubber stamp his plans, to circle the wagons, to stifle dissent, and to keep the cronies in place -Corcuera, Sada, and Garza being notorious examples...

  1. In your opinion, what will happen under these appointed commissioners? Do you think Bishop Farrell is able to see the big picture without applying his own bias to the situation as an LC? Can he avoid being influenced by the LC superiors?

  2. Paul,
I don't know Mons. Farrell, but I know Nuestro Fraude loved the idea of infiltrating the Church's top hierarchy to achieve greater power and influence, and he NEVER would have allowed a not-fully-"integrated"-legionary to become a bishop -- one who wasn't a Legionary first, and a Legionary second. Am I right to assume that Mons. Farrell's beyond-due-lip-service loyalties lie with his Macielistic LC bosses and not really with the Pope? Thanks!

    Farrell and the big picture
As an ordained bishop Mons should know that his premier allegiance is to the Church, more than the Legion. I believe that for some time Brian has been living outside the community in Rome; during the past several years his personal allegiance has been to Arch/Card Walter Kaspers[?] his boss at Christian Unity. If you review the people who knew Brian in the Legion, and under whose authority they were he wa

  4. wa never one of those cut-throat superiors like Brock in Salamanca...
I am also aware that Brian has maintained good ties with his family since going to work at the Vatican. He is on good terms with his brother, Kevin, who had his own falling out with Maciel and "intellectual disagreements" leading him to leave the Legion and transfer to diocesan in 1984.

  5. The point/doubt regarding Mons Brian Farrell was also well taken. I spoke from my own affection for and memories of Brian.
I hope to God that he will prove me right and have the moral strength to do what it takes to clean up the Legion. I would pray for that.
