Legion's Gateway Academy Closing in St Louis?

latest news about Legion or Regnum run Gateway Academy in the St. Louis, Missouri Area [thanks for correction, Molly]

10/28/09:

Scott Brown is meeting with the parents this evening and we have heard a rumor that it is to close GA after the semester. Ironically, Fr. Thomas left yesterday. He was here for the high school closing in May and it was horrendous. This situation may be worse since they promised to keep the school open for the year. The LC is not very swift in managing these types of events.

  1. The meeting was postponed to Nov. 10. I've heard a similar rumor.

Scott Brown is the so-called "Regional Director of Operations," I assume for Gateway and its sister schools.

That is the understatement of the year. :-)

  3. Gateway Academy is in St. Louis, Missouri not Atlanta. The spin will be that parents just have not stepped up, we need a deeper commitment from the parents, we are looking for a benefactor (big) in order to keep the school open and no one is willing to make the sacrifice. This is typical, sadly keeping the parents out of the loop forces them to rush to find new schools for their children over Christmas break.........Merry Christmas.

Rumor is that a grandparent did offer, maybe with conditions, but was turned down.

  4. Why doesn't the Legion step in with ITS big money?
Like money they have been pouring into the new university in Sacramento, CA, and that they have poured into the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Arlington, VA?

  5. LOL, the Legion put in their money!!! I think that RC etc. is imploding here in STL. Well im43 what is your theory why the Legion isn't putting any of their money..well technically they are putting in some $, they manned up and are paying the mortgage on the property they own.

  6. One correction. Fr. Thomas was not at Gateway in May when the high school was closed. He and Fr. Timothy Mulcahey were in New York for their spiritual exercises. Fr. James Perez was the priest who was there to give the explanation that the school board did everything it could to prevent the closing, and it was a heartbreaking, last-minute decision. Fr. James also promised parents he would get to the bottom of our questions. "These are good questions, and they must be answered." That was 5 months ago. Still waiting for those answers.

  7. Molly, how dare you bait me!
Seriously, the Legion wants all its works to be financially independent AND produce a profit; the profit goes to the central Admin in Rome where decisions are made about where the Legion is putting its money. Decision of this type were always taken by Fr Maciel; now by Corcuera and Luis Garza, according to THEIR PRIORITIES...

  8. Not at Gateway to face the music. This is normal procedure for the Legion, you naive Americanos!
The LC/RC constantly switch people around with various excuses...illnesses, special mission, reassignment, called to Rome by the Pope...whatever is more convenient. That way there is NO ACCOUNTABILITY for decisions and actions. Remember, LC/RC is only accountable to the Pope, and when the Pope does not agree with them, only accountable to God the Father...

  9. " He and Fr. Timothy Mulcahey were in New York for their spiritual exercises."

when you hear this info you must learn to question. Do Legionaries do spiritual exercises in New York in the month of May? Why would priests working with schools do SE in the month of May which is one of the busiest months of the school year...? If I had time i could research...But I have learned to systematically question and be suspicious about these half assed excuses and deceit.

  10. I don't know why they weren't at Gateway in May. Believe me; it was more than coincidence, I'm sure! All I know is that Fr. James was left behind to hold down the fort.

  11. Some poor unfortunate whas put out there to roast. People would have compassion on him and not give him a hard time. Anyway, he would not know a thing. A wonderful game of people-chess, well learned from the Master of Deceit, MM

  12. I do agree that Fr. James was pitied. He was new to the school last year, and he speaks with a fairly heavy Spanish accent. However, I have my own suspicions about his not knowing a thing. I believe he was sent to observe and report back - to whom, I don't know. He came to the school to help Fr. Timothy, and he ended the year by replacing him!

  13. And let's not forget that Scott Brown is replacing Jim Pieczyinski. Another shuffle so that those in the know are long gone if someone comes around asking questions.
